This Keyring is made
in the U.S.A. & measures approximately
1 1/8" in diameter by 9/16" thick.
Its acrylic chamber is filled with actual game
used infield dirt from Shea Stadium, the former home
of the New York Mets -
Flushing (Queens), New York from 1964 thru 2008. After Shea Stadium closed in 2008, she was dismantled, piece by piece.
Authenticators
from Major League Baseball (MLB) were on hand during this 'de-construction' process
to validate items removed via their tamper-proof
hologram sticker system. MLB Auditors would witness items being removed from the ballpark & would then attach a uniquely numbered sticker
on each item. The serial number on each sticker would then be entered into MLB Authenticated's data base. This data base
is accessible on-line, so everyone is able to look up & locate items to guarantee that they are legit.
A couple years ago, I acquired
the complete set of mounts that housed the
three bases and home plate in Shea Stadium (see last photo). The added 'bonus' of this purchase was Shea Stadium infield dirt, which
was caked on the outsides
of each concrete mount, all
around the wooden home plate mount, as well as clogged in each of the square pipes of each concrete base holder, too. Being
these mounts were authenticated by MLB Authenticated .... the dirt attached to them was technically authenticated by MLB as well. The dirt encapsulated
inside this key ring came from the third base mount, David Wright's old "stomping" grounds, (literally)!! Its
MLB Authenticated serial number is SH-054979.

League Baseball (MLB Authenticated Serial Number SH-073663). This long & narrow wall pad was marked "LF-2" on its
reverse side (see posted photo).
Judging by that notation AND by its shape, it had to have been one of the two long wall pads that hung under the Mets retired numbers in left field of Shea .... and
most likely the pad that hung directly under Tom Seaver's retired # 41 banner! Other then being wiped down
with a damp cloth to remove any surface dirt, each keyring's skin is exactly as
